Inpainting - Tips and Tricks
When, where, and how to use inpainting on Tavern of Azoth to improve your home-brew Dungeons and Dragons 5e, PathFinder 2, or any traditional table top role playing game.
Inpainting - Tips and Tricks
Inpainting on Tavern of Azoth leverages
Stable Diffusion's latest SD3 model. It allows you to quickly request changes to a specific region of any images you’ve generated on Tavern of Azoth.
How to Find the Inpainting Option
-
Login or create an account
-
Navigate to any
Creature,
NPC,
Character, or
Equipment page.
-
Select the entity's portrait.
-
Choose
Inpaint
from the available options.
Best Practices
- Focus on a specific element of the picture. Replacing body armor has a higher success rate than adding a new weapon.
- Be descriptive in your request prompt and try to include details that match the style of your original image. For example, "A grim reaper wearing emerald green platemail in a dark fantasy, lightly textured, hand-painted style" works much better than "green platemail."
- Negative prompts are ineffective. Words like "no _____", "remove ______", will not work. Instead try to only reference what you would like to be generated.
- The density of the blue in the selected region has only a minimal effect on the output.
Tips
- You can replace the entire background of your image if you carefully trace around the main character or creature.
- Don't be afraid to keep your changes. You can always select the image and restore the original.
-
If you find a creature in the
Compendium or
Search that you want to modify, you can make a copy on your account by adding it to a collection and choosing the
Fork
option.
- Changing a character's eye colour is a great and effective use of inpainting!
Inpainting Example
Prompt: "Platemail on a wildling guardian rogue in a lightly textured hand-painted TTRPG fantasy style"
